 YR IEUENCTID
YOUTH XV
   New Era and New Beginnings.
Youth rugby has undergone a massive transformation this year with the WRU changing from three age groups (U17s,18s & 19s) as the “old youth rugby” into the “new youth rugby” which saw the splitting of the two youth age groups into U20s and U18s.
Brecon RFC saw this as an opportunity to develop and build some younger players into the senior squads whilst giving the U18s youth rugby team some time for growth and progression. With the old youth players moving onto pastures new and into the senior squads the U18s now have the time to perfect their skills and get back to enjoying some long overdue rugby playing on a competitive level.
During the summer the aims were to refine individual skills and bring back team culture by developing as a team both on and off the field. The team has seen massive changes with the loss of the senior youth players not being
around to support the first-year youth, thus meaning that all players have had to look at one another for leadership qualities, During this period the players and coaching staff selected a new team captain and vice-captain along with two team leaders:
Team Captain
Ellis Jenkins
Vice-Captain
Tom Phillips
Team Leader
Teilo Harris
Team Leader
Charlie Harries
This season sees the youth team playing a new regional cup competition of 2 group pools within the Blues region
before the Christmas break. This will be a tough test for our youth team and hopefully their persistence to strive for high standards will see them achieve the goals of silver- ware.
We are still recruiting new and old players who want to be part of a focused and well driven team, where team spirit and teamwork are at the heart of our core values.
Leigh Savage
Youth XV Head Coach.
