TODAY’S VISITORS NEATH
I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to the players, committee, members
and supporters of Neath RFC for the second time in a month. After a gap of
fifty two years, we suddenly find ourselves facing one another again within just
three weeks! For the first twenty minutes of that first game, Neath were
completely dominant and, playing some lovely rugby, built up a 19-point lead.
At that point, many of the Brecon faithful feared the worst. However, the team
responded commendably to claim a losing bonus point and I know that they are
relishing the prospect of a Cup rematch today.
The Premiership is proving a superbly competitive league and we will be, as ever,
looking to the team, under the direction of Dale ‘The Chief’ McIntosh and his
coaching staff to be as well prepared as possible and show us the Brecon brand of
rugby we all enjoy watching.
That is not to underestimate the challenge ahead, but we hope to contribute to a
great game of rugby with the best team earning the right to move forward in the
Cup. Neath with their proud Cup history, know what it is all about while we, with
our one experience of Cup glory at the Principality, would love to progress.
Whatever the result, we stand to be treated to a great afternoon of rugby and to
share a few beers together after the match.
In addition to Premiership Cup rugby today, we also welcome Tondu RFC to Parc
de Pugh as the Athletic also begin their Cup campaign. It is a real treat for our
spectators to have two such competitive games to watch on one afternoon while
enjoying our improved facilities. Welcome all, enjoy the spectacle!
