BRONNIE JONES
Bronnie is a Cardiff Blues Rugby Officer based in South Powys, working full time across two South Powys high schools and thirteen primary schools to deliver rugby to all age groups, from years 2 to13.
Bronnie works in Crickhowell high school delivering the practical side of the BTEC course that the Cardiff Blues run and works in Gwernyfed HS delivering rugby in and outside of the curriculum.
Based across all primary schools in the Gwernyfed and Brecon catchment, as well as delivery to two primary schools in Crickhowell with the BTEC students from Crickhowell High School.
Bronnie liaises with Gwernyfed RFC as their hub officer assisting coach development (CPDs), referee development and general assistance with the mini and junior section. Bronnie is the lead hub officer for the Red Kites which involves coaching on Fridays, Festivals on Sundays and general support and assistance in any needs the girls’ Hub Lead has, whether delivering CPDs or festivals. Outside of coaching, Bronnie is Captain of Gwernyfed Ladies and also plays for the Cardiff Blues Women.

OUR NEW LADIES COACH
            What brought you to Gwernyfed RFC?
I retired from playing rugby last year after a number of concussions and wanted to get into coaching. Thankfully I was given the op- portunity to coach at GRFC and I jumped at the opportunity.
How did you get involved with Rugby?
I was brought along to Gwernyfed by my Dad at the age of 6 and I have played rugby ever since.
Who is your rugby hero?
Sean Long, former St Helens Scrum half.
What are your best moments on/off the pitch?
Winning my first Welsh Rugby League cap
What are the most embarrassing or funniest things that have happened to you on or off the rugby pitch?
Getting a 12 match ban for questioning a referee’s parentage, very embarrassing!
What is your greatest achievement in life?
Having two beautiful children/playing rugby league for Wales.
You have agreed to be part of our Coaching set up. What experience can you bring?
Experience of the game at a high level and an expansive playing style.
What do you hope to achieve at GRFC?
I hope to make an enjoyable atmosphere that players want to commit to and have fun playing rugby.
How many games have you played at Senior Level and have you won any awards?
250 games between rugby league and rugby union. 2 Wales caps in 2014 European championship. Player of the season and players player at SW Scorpions RL 2016. Named in the Student World Cup team of the Tournament 2013. Won Student 4 nations championship 2012
What do you see as a typical ‘rugby’ Saturday?
Good expansive attacking rugby with an aggressive defence and a beer with the opposition afterwards.
