We wish to extend a warm welcome to the visiting Committee, players, members and supporters from Ammanford RFC to Parc De Pugh.
It is a difficult day for the club, and the town, as it coincides with the funeral of a former Junior, Mini, and Youth player, Will Bush, who sadly died under tragic circumstances in Cardiff recently. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go to parents, David and Liz, and siblings Catrin and Alex (a former player too).
In taking the decision to go ahead today with the fixture, we have sought the input of players, and we are grateful to our visitors who have agreed to the later kick off time, to enable Players and others to attend the funeral.
Today’s opponents are not total strangers to us as they lowered our colours in the Cup competition last year, in a hard fought, and closely contested encounter. I note that they currently sit mid-table in the league - although this does not necessarily reflect some strong performances that they have produced through the season.
Our own form in 2024 has dipped insomuch as our squad have been defeated in their last three games, this also seeing our exit from the Championship Cup at Bedwas. Notwithstanding this, the last performance, against current league leaders and pace-setters, Narberth, saw a much improved display that could have seen Brecon take a victory at the end of the game. It is this level of commitment and intensity that Director of Rugby, Dale McIntosh, and his coaching group, will know is needed as we welcome a team with a proud and lengthy history from the southern end of the Dyffryn Aman.
I would like to extend a welcome to you all to join us at the Club house after the game where I am sure Sharon, our stewardess, and her great team, will ensure you are all well catered for.
Best wishes,
JulianEdwards Llywydd/ President
