ron ruling will now put the onus on Congress to write more specific language and give the courts oversight on the legality of how those laws get implemented. This means that lawsuits will hold up legislation and many longstanding practices in healthcare will be challenged over the next decade. This could lead to a huge change in how physicians get reimbursed and practice medicine in the future.
Politicians pick the “winners and losers” in US healthcare. And if all politics are local, this election will be one of the most important in recent years, but not because of the presidential election. The HCMA is here to work with physicians in advo- cating for physicians no matter who is elected. We must con- tinue to work with the FMA, AMA, and our specialty organi- zations to ensure that physician autonomy and rights are not further encroached. I urge you to continue to educate yourself on healthcare issues that are important to you and work with the HCMA to see how we can influence the implementation of healthcare in Hillsborough, the state, and our great country.
