tical. Many women who experience miscarriages require treat- ments to avoid complications that threaten their health, which can include treatments used for abortion care. Given the similar- ity in treatments, and the confusing and unclear laws that are cur- rently in effect, questions are surfacing as to whether physicians may hesitate to treat pregnancy loss altogether.
The bottom line should be clear. When a patient is in a precari- ous medical condition, having to include politicians in deciding what the best course of care should be is undeniably dangerous. This massive intrusion into the privacy and healthcare of patients will simply end “safe” abortion - risking devastating consequenc- es, including patients’ lives.
In the past, government policies interfering in health care de- cisions have worsened problems, driven up medical costs, and hindered transparency. Further government intrusion in dictat- ing limits or bans on reproductive healthcare will only widen the gap between the physician/patient relationship and severely com- promise access to safe medical care.
Please note...my article is not meant to reflect negatively on any- one’s belief. I personally feel that this issue is not black-and-white. I believe government intrusion into the practice of medicine is dan- gerous regardless of the subject.
