Our best-selling artist in Europe, Hans Davidsson has impacted the organ world on both American and Euro- pean continents. He has recorded the complete works of Buxtehude, Boehm, and Weckman for Loft, in addition to a recording of French Romantic works reconceived for the salon, rather than the cathedral. His newest recording of the Mendelssohn Sonatas recasts these works as a single cycle of 18 poetic movements. Drawing on contemporary accounts of Mendelssohn’s more his- torical approach to playing and instrument selection, Davidsson draws a new picture of Mendelssohn’s favorite organ works.
