Editable illustrations for scientists
Gills’ approach is a generous and considerate one. She seeks to help scientists with a long term visual communication solution instead of a one-off figure using the process of deconstruction.
She creates illustrations with layers that can be edited/added to change colour, add/ remove detail, add annotation/text or to include additional images or Illustrator files. By toggling with the visibility of these
individual layers, numerous different images can be created with respect to the specific case. This results in visually consistent conceptual figures.
Similarly, anatomical images can be constructed and adapted to create more diagrammatic figures. These illustrations are available in full colour, greyscale and outline versions, where appropriate.
