   Getting to Know Your Officers
Greg McMillan Media Coordinator
Introduction
I sparked an interest in photography at an early age and find I am continually learning more about the various aspects of the craft. As a self-taught photographer, I rely on
the endless resources available on the internet as well as the wealth of knowledge that can be gained from my peers. I joined the Owen Sound Camera Club in
January 2005 and spent the 2006-07 season as President. They were not online at the time so I built them a website that had not only marked their place on the web but, at the time, helped the club grow to nearly twice the size it was when I had joined. I stepped back from the leading role for a few years but took it on again for two years beginning in September of 2013. It’s not an easy task, that’s for sure, but it’s something I enjoyed doing. Becoming co-host of a podcast about iPhone photography is my biggest photographic accomplishment.
1. Where do you live?
Owen Sound
2. How long have you been involved in the Club?
13 years.
3. How long have you been an Officer?
In a way, for 12 years. The club has only formalized the Officer positions in the last couple of years.
4. Why are you involved in the Planning Meetings?
As the guy who shows what is seen on the screen at the club meetings, I like to know what we are going to be looking at and have it organized so there’s no fumbling around. The meeting agendas are set at these planning meetings.
5. If you could make one improvement to the Club, what would it be?
I would love to see more people embrace mobile photography. I don’t mean that it has to be forced upon them, but just add it to their current repertoire. I really don’t think the mobile style is accepted by everyone. Folks have to realize that it’s a real camera inside that phone. It’s fundamentally no different than the one they use.
