Page 1 - IAESTE CHINA VISA FAQs
P. 1
What to do when my IAESTE program is over?
1. When the internship finishes you should:
- Write a report of internship, where you describe how your process was during these 3 months, what did
you learn professionally and personally. How do you think LePA help you?
- You can fill up the LePA booklet to do this report.
- The booklet will be sent with this message.
- Once you fill it up, send it to alejandra.leguizamon@iaeste-china.org
2. Return home (most common case): If your visa and IAESTE China program have finalized you should go
back to your own country especially if you need to end your studies.
3. I want to travel in China.
- If your Visa is still valid, we suggest you to explore the amazing China!
- If you want to travel around China and you do not have any more days in your Visa: You HAVE TO leave China
and apply for a tourist visa in order to re-enter China again. How?
- The fastest and closest option is Hong Kong to apply for the L tourist Chinese visa.
- If you can’t leave China: Find a Visa agency (watch out that they do not lie to you!) and of course you should pay
for the services. It is around 2.500 – 7.000 RMBs depending on agency.
4. I want to travel outside China and then return… Yes, now you can do it!
You can go to travel to different Asian countries and then come back to China without any Visa. You can stay in
China with a Visa-free stay up to 72 hours but not everybody! Please check the Chinese embassy of your country
to find out if you are eligible for this transit visa. If not, you should apply for a Chinese Tourist Visa in any Chinese
embassy of any Asian country.
5. I want to extend my internship in China…
We are happy to hear it! Of course, you can! BUT, first you MUST send an email to
alejandra.leguizamon@iaeste-china.org to explain the reasons why you want to extend it and the
contributions you made to the company. Then, IAESTE China will talk to your employer, understand it and help
with the process in case we have the approval of the company. (this is a different and separate report from the
LePA booklet)
Remember:
- Sometimes the employer will say “yes” when they actually mean “no”. Besides, the employer does not know
anything about the visa process as it is IAESTE China who provides them.
- Do NOT go to the police station/Entry-Exit Inspection Bureau to extend your visa by yourself.
- Try not to ask the consulate/embassy of your country. Most of the time they do not have the right information
about the Chinese visa process.
“We hope you find this information useful and it helps you to prepare and plan ahead you stay in China stress-free”
