Providing Fascinating Travel Experiences
Romania still carries a certain negative image, largely conveyed by the media. An unfair image that does not reflect the reality of what arguably isthemostbeautifulcountryinEasternEurope.
The hospitality of the locals
I have not come across a country in Europe where the inhabitants are so welcoming. This is of course especially the case in the countryside. However, you will be pleasantly surprised. On a trip to Romania, meet them, it marks!
Medieval towns
Romanian cities are not very interesting to visit. Blame it on commu- nist town planning. However, some cities have managed to preserve their medieval cachet such as Brasov, Sigishoara or Sibiu. And then, you will often find traces of the Dracula myth in Transylvania .... When in the capital, it is an interesting city. The People's House is its most visited monument ...
Romanian villages
This is one of the major attractions of a trip to Romania. These villages have managed to preserve their charm. Some of these villages are made up largely of wooden houses. This is particularly the case of those of Maramures, a region in the north where this wood culture is very present. It is a pleasure to walk in these villages, the meetings are always nice! Some curiosities are worth the detour!
The monasteries
In the north of the country, in Moldova and Bucovina, you can visit a set of painted Orthodox monasteries. Their particularity is that they are completely covered with magnificent painted frescoes. These gems like the Voronet monastery are part of the World Heritage. Traveling in Romania is going back in time.
The tasty food
Romanian cuisine may not be very refined, but admit that while it's not as fancy as some of other countries' traditional dishes, it's worth it! And first, define “refined”! Those who will go to Cluj, you will have to stop by Casa Ardeleana: order sarmales with mamaliga and papanasi for dessert!Youwon'teatanythingforthenextfewdays! Andtheclatita! Finally, you can test everything!
The Danube Delta
One of the great deltas of Europe. This protected natural area is home to many species, including pelicans. A canoe trip is ideal ...
Minorities
Romania is made up of a host of ethnic minorities: Hungarians, Germans, Ukrainians, Serbs, Ruthenians and of course the Roma. The culture of the latter is very much alive.
