Day 6 – Fri: Thaton, Chiang Rai
Depart Thaton to visit Ban Lorcha, a Phami Akha hilltribe community center. This community-based tourism development project pro- motes sustainable, self-reliant devel- opment to improve the quality of life of villagers of this Akha Community, and is a model for tourism in hill tribe villages. Drive to Ban Pha Tai and board on motor-powered traditional boats for three-hour journey down Kok River, passing tiny hill tribe vil- lages, bamboo huts and jungle. Arrive Chiang Rai and disembark at the legend Chiang Rai boutique river resortandspa. Checkinonarrivaland followed by lunch at the hotel. Visit the
famous Wat Rong Khun or White Temple, with its unique “kanok” architecture and fantastical sculp- tures, designed by National Artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. Continue visit the statue of King Mengrai who built Chiang Rai City and the Hilltibe Museum and a local market before returning to the hotel. Dinner and accommodations. [B/L/D]
Day 7 – Sat: Chiang Rai, Bangkok
Depart Chiang Rai to visit Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. Take short boat ride on Mekong River. Picnic lunch box provided. Transfer to Chiang Rai Airport. Depart Chiang Rai
by TG2135 (air ticket is not included). Arrive Bangkok with transfers to your Bangkok hotel. [B/L]
Day 8 – Mon: Bangkok
Arrive Bangkok Railway Station. No breakfast. Transfer to your Bangkok hotel for check-in and getting ready for a city tour and visit to the most important temples in Bangkok. Start with Wat Trimitr, an ancient golden temple home to the world’s largest Buddha statue sculpted in pure gold weighing 12,125 pounds and standing 10 feet high. Continue through China Town to arrive at Wat Pranangcherng Wat Pranangcherng Wat
Pranangcherng Wat Pranangcherng Wat Pranangcherng royal temples complex that houses a reclining Buddha 151 feet long and the tombs of the kings. One the oldest temples in Bangkok, the Wat Pho were declared as Royal Monastery during the king- dom of Rama I of Thailand. The sight- seeing will end with a visit to Wat Benchamabophit, known as the “Marble Temple” due to the Italian mable imported from Carrara to build the “ubosoth”, a structure used for the ordinance of priests. Return to the hotel. Overnight in Bangkok. [B]
Day 9 – Tue: Bangkok, USA
Enjoy a few more hours relaxing before you are met and transferred to Phuket International Airport to board your Bangkok bound flight the first leg of your return back home. [B]
