Stage 7: The Learning Process
Creativity
Society is increasingly valuing the strategic and personal importance of creativity and our ability148 to leverage our creativity to be innovative and ingenious. However, it is still remarkably difficult to explain how we are creative. In this emerging new model of how the brain learns, creativity happens as the result of resonance and interference of our brainwaves as they link knowledge, ideas and concepts into new concept frameworks. To be creative, we must have a storehouse of knowledge, ideas, concepts, and concept frameworks that the brain can access, and the richer this library of resource, the more creative we can potentially be.
In this model, millions of unique ‘brainwave profiles’ are generated within the brain for each new idea, concept and concept framework that we create. These brainwave profiles are the result of the unique electrochemical activity of the brain cells that are associated with knowledge, each idea, concept or concept framework.
It is possible that creativity is the ability of the hippocampus and the amygdala within the brain to sense productive combinations of these brainwave profiles immediately store memories of the productive outcomes. Productive combinations create resonance and interference profiles that the amygdala can sense and then map. Our brain is constantly searching these profiles for possible productive combinations of ideas, concepts and concept frameworks that may solve the need or opportunity we are working on when we allow ourselves to daydream.
One of the key strategies and conditions for being creative is allowing the brain to be in a state of non-consciousness, which can occur naturally while daydreaming, while in the shower, driving the car, or while falling off to, or during, sleep. Our inspirational ideas come to us while we are not focused on a specific, conscious thinking task. The advert below demonstrates this perfectly. 149
