www – which he said was “heaps of fun, once some feral parents had been accounted for!” – David Ching (C 83) is now back in the medical industry as Sales Director with Obex Medical, one of the largest medical device distributors in New Zealand. He stills plays hockey and is goalkeeper in the same team as his youngest son! As if this wasn’t enough, he took up ultramarathons (“I needed a new challenge!” he says). David has just
returned from a reunion in the UK with brothers Alastair Ching (C 73) and Bruce Ching (C 74), and their families. Whilst there, he saw Richard Brooke (St A 83), who now lives and works in Rotterdam.
Finally, to Oundle’s farthest-flung OO, Tom Lax (B 06). Tom writes that he has moved to Colliers International in Christchurch. At the time of writing, he was busy preparing for the imminent arrival of
his first child, which, he says, is “an exciting, if daunting, prospect!” He was able to catch up with James Grigson (B 06) and Ben Lane (B 06) whilst on a walking holiday in Switzerland and UK at Easter.
Many thanks to those of you who managed to send me your news and I look forward to hearing from more of you next time. Until then, have a great year!
NEWS FROM ABROAD
 Bermuda and Caribbean
Will Oakley (Lx 92) writes that five years seem to have flown by since he moved to Barbados and is delighted that many OOs have visited him at Cobblers Cove, the resort he runs there (while taking advantage of the favourable discount Will offers to visiting OOs!). Life as an hotelier in the Caribbean, according to Will, is never dull or slow-paced, contrary to what some might think. He very much looks forward to welcoming the Oundle 1st XI cricket team in April 2020 to Barbados.
James Crockett (G 91) continues to be based in St Lucia and in addition to working there, he has visited Tobago and Union Island in the Grenadines at various times over the past year in his capacity as a responsible tourism consultant. His Jus' Sail business continues to deliver laid-back sailing charters to visitors, whilst his not-for-profit Jus' Sail Foundation offers work- readiness training to unemployed local youths in the off season, helping them gain access to jobs in the maritime sector of the island. James saw OOs Mike Meighan (Ldr 91) and Charlie Furniss (St A 91) briefly in London in December for his wife's surprise birthday party. He writes that it was great to see them both, especially as it was the first time they had seen each other since

1991 or thereabouts.
Rory O'Kelly-Lynch (S 10) reports
that he is still working in Bermuda as an underwriter at Shoreline. Rory was selected for the Bermuda rugby squad for the 2019 Caribbean Championship final and a tour to Gibraltar, but unfortunately will be unable to play, having already booked a trip to the Rugby World Cup in Japan long before the announcement of the tours.
Ian Kawaley (Ldr 73) has been working as a judge mostly in the Cayman Islands since October 2018 and occasionally in Bermuda. He writes that reports of his retirement have been greatly exaggerated!
Robin Blackburne (S 51) continues to be engaged in the wine trade and playing regular tennis, while Hayden Frith (C 18) is enjoying life at the University of Kent, having just completed his first year.
My brother, William Peckett (St A 85), continues to enjoy his professional life in Bermuda as an orthopaedic surgeon, cycling regularly in his spare time, as well as sailing and playing some golf. His daughter, Imogen Peckett (K 19), was awaiting her A-level results at the time of writing, hoping to go on to study Geography at university in the autumn, while his younger daughter, Charlotte (K), and son James (St A) are enjoying life at Oundle. William and I see much of Richard Hammond (G 87) and his family. Richard is Chief of Anaesthesia at Bermuda’s King Edward Hospital and has two sons currently at Oundle, Rudi (G) and Louis (G).
Finally, I am enjoying life as a lawyer in Bermuda’s reinsurance industry and spending much of my spare time engaged in various watersports, both on and under the sea, and playing the guitar. My daughter, Natalie Peckett (Sn 18), has enjoyed her first year at Edinburgh University Medical School. During the summer holiday, after a trekking trip in Peru’s Cordillera Blanca at the beginning of her summer break, Natalie worked as a camp counsellor at Onondaga Camp in Ontario, Canada. My son, Tom (St A), has just completed his GSCEs and continues to enjoy life at Oundle.
