www his wife, Penny, had a great party to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Neil has apparently had a hard year with illness but is coping well. They also met up with John Shelton (S 50) and his wife for lunch. He was apparently a lot more mobile this year, which is good news.
Andrew Usher (C 77) still keeps in touch with Edward Castellan (C 79) and Martin Hickley (St A 79). Ed lives about two hours’ drive from Andrew, so they see each other from time to time. Ed is building a model locomotive and visiting his workshop brought back memories of Clive Mould shouting at Andrew to take the chuck key out of the lathe! Martin finally took the plunge and got married last December. He continues his passions of military history, cars and fine wine.
Peter Winnington (S 63) brought out another book this year – Harriet Martineau, Miss J, and Ellen McKee. No reviews yet, but the editor thought it was “a very nice job”. Peter is still taking photographs – as he did at Oundle. Some were printed in The Laxtonian and now some have been selected to feature in the Getty Images collection.
Giles Woodbridge (B 84) is still in the French Alps and continuing to expand his chalet business.

mainly as a representative of the northern section of the OO Golfing Society, which is ably managed by Robert Blackburn (Sc 73), but also on my travels. They include Nick Heynen (St A 77), who is well; Roderick McGillivray (N 77), who is looking very fit and healthy, having recently retired; and of course my brother, Charlie Bennett (N 84), who lives life to the full in Northumberland, hunting, shooting and fishing, ably accompanied by his two boys, Edward and Milo.
NEWS FROM ABROAD
Unfortunately, he hasn’t been in contact with any OOs this year.
Tony Wright (Sc 85) wrote to say that he joined HSBC in 1989 and is still with them nearly 30 years later. He has worked for them in nine countries in a wide-ranging career and is currently based in the extraordinary city of Istanbul. He is married with three children, two teenage boys (Jason and Alex) and a beautiful young daughter, Sophia.
Your correspondent has met a number of OOs in the past year,
Alison Arlington - wife of Michael (B 71) and mother of Emilie Rathbone (K 01), Claire Tufnell (D 01) and Jenny Gladwell (N 04) - organised a private trip to Arnhem in the Netherlands as part of her Battlefield Reflections tours last October. She is pictured at the Oosterbeek War Cemetery second left here with guide Gary Weight, Nigel Sudborough (N 65), fellow former Oundle parent Sue Ream, Jeremy Colson (Ldr 65) and Harry Williamson (St A 55), who remembered OOs lost in that area in 1944, namely Michael Aubrey Glennie, Howard Stephen Harris and Philip James Colbourne
A recent visit to Hong Kong and Macau by the Old Oundelian class of 2006 from Idtitorn Israsena, Patid Boonyarungsrit (B 06), Kanate Ratapipat (G 06), Torsak Vayakornvichitr (G 06), Suchote Chanvipava (St A 06), Chanutr Sihanatkathakul (St A 06) and Sakaruth Sangkaew (Ldr 06) were warmly welcomed by Greg Ling (St A 06) and Max Hui (Sc 06). In Macau the group was greeted by Kenneth Loi (Sc 06), who gave us a good insight into the city.
Vipoo Sangviraphunsiri (B 14) is currently finishing off his master’s degree in Marketing at LSE. He will
be returning to Thailand for good in October 2019.
John Eastwood (D 74) has relocated from England to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, where he has been for a year. His family lighting design, source and supply
business is based there, so John finally decided to stop monthly long- haul flights to the factories in China and switch to more frequent short- haul flying. It has been a good move! He and his family are enjoying the hot weather, charm and vitality of the city, scootering and a lovely house by the Saigon River.
