www who was ably supported by debutant James Esler (C 19) with 19.
After the openers fell, George Johansen (F 11) (58) and captain Greg Smith (St A 07) (70) put together a beautifully-constructed, 135-run partnership that ensured Oundle's score was going to be very competitive.
The rest of the middle order found Malvern's spinners difficult to get away, but Charlie Fernandes (Ldr 17) (28 not out), performing strongly for the fourth game in succession, ensured that Oundle reached 249 for seven off their 50 overs.
Oundle opened up the Malvern innings with spin at both ends, but Malvern started well and it was only when Esler bowled the dangerous Malik that the Rovers attack began to exert control.
Will Street (Sc 10) (2-22) and Harry Ramsden (F 11) (3-25) were the pick of the bowlers, but they were well supported by Martyn Dobson (Sc 00) (1-26), Graves (2- 52), Simon Hicks (F 07) (0-5) and Esler (1-33).
Ramsden's outstanding catch at short extra cover to dismiss Davey (34) was the highlight of an outstanding team fielding performance, while Simon Fernandes' (Ldr 18) ground fielding was quite exceptional and Stephen Lowe (G 99) displayed his usual class behind the stumps, standing up to the wicket for the complete Malvern innings.

Oundle Rovers 124 Old Tonbridgians 127-4
After their exhilarating run to the final, Oundle Rovers suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of 16-time winners Old Tonbridgians at Arundel Castle on 11th August.
In front of a large crowd, including many OOs, the Rovers won the toss and elected to bat. However, unlike in the semi-final at Malvern, Oundle lost cheap wickets early on and never really recovered from 24-3.
Captain Greg Smith (St A 07) (27) made the top score, but only three others – Harry Ramsden (F 11) (13), Simon Hicks (F 07) (10) and Charlie Fernandes (Ldr 17) (24) – made double figures, with the Tonbridge spin quartet capitalising on the early breakthroughs from their seam bowlers to dismiss Oundle for 124.
Patch Foster (St A 05) (1-32) removed one of the Tonbridge openers early on thanks to a towering catch by Smith, while Will Street (Sc 10) (2-37) and Ben Graves (F 15) (1-23) managed three late wickets, but a very controlled 74 not out from Cowdrey saw Tonbridge home with plenty of overs to spare.
The large Oundle gathering at the game included the core of the 1988 and 1989 Cricketer Cup-winning squads, along with the School Head, Sarah Kerr-Dineen, Chairman of Governors Robert Ringrose (St A 71) and OO Club President Alastair Irvine (Sc 81).
An additional highlight was the presence of the ICC World Cup, won by England in that unforgettable final at Lord’s in mid-July, courtesy of Oundle Rover and England & Wales Cricket Board Chief Executive Tom
Harrison (G 89), who brought the trophy to the game, where many were thrilled to be photographed with it.
Oundle Rovers: Smith (captain), Graves, Simon Fernandes (Ldr 18), George Johansen (F 11), Ramsden, Stephen Lowe (G 99), James Esler (C 19), Hicks, C Fernandes, Foster, Street (Sc 10).
Oundle Rovers 236-5, Oundle School 219
By Harry Lawes (S 15)
It was another great day out for this annual fixture, which brings together generations of Old Oundelians at the School to play against future OOs, with Oundle Rovers triumphing on this occasion by 17 runs.
Simon Fernandes (Ldr 18) opened the batting for the Rovers and started strongly with his brother, Charlie (Ldr 17), but he was unable to match the big innings that he had made against them in previous years for the School.
After the fraternal duo fell, Stephen Lowe (G 99) and James Fischer (F 15) batted beautifully to keep the scoreboard ticking over in the middle overs in a partnership of 80, before James Esler dismissed them both, for 45 and 47 respectively.
A few meaty blows from James Bourn (C 15) and Jules McAlpine (Lx 88) gave the Rovers a welcome boost towards the end of the innings.
After Harry Woodrow and Finn Chatterton, schoolboys representing the Rovers, made early breakthroughs, Tommy Simeons and Will De Capell Brook put the bowlers under pressure with some excellent batting.
However, McAlpine then removed Simeons and an impressive spell from Simon Fernandes, who finished with 2-42 in his nine overs, saw the School slip to 126-6.
De Capell Brook, who made 79, and Charlie Preece showed excellent character, though, to launch a fightback with some clean hitting, until the School were bowled out for 219.
