DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy (SRCL) grant is to to create a a a a a a a a a comprehensive literacy program to to advance literacy literacy skills—including pre-literacy skills skills reading and writing—for students from birth through grade 12 including including limited-English- pro cient students students and students students with disabilities FUNDING INFORMATION

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applications Due: Nov 10 2017 Awards Announced: Dec 12 2017 Project Period: 36 months
School systems may apply for one subgrant in each of the age or or grade spans – Birth to Grade 5 Grades Grades 6–8 Grades Grades 9–12—for up to ve schools serving the greatest percent of disadvantaged youth with separate applications required for each age or or grade span The following large school systems may apply for two birth to grade 5 subgrants: Ascension Bossier Caddo Calcasieu East Baton Rouge Je erson Lafayette Livingston Rapides and St Tammany These school school systems must include ve schools in in each application application The The rst application application should include the the ve schools with the the greatest percent of disadvantaged youth The second application should include the the next ve schools with the the greatest percent of disadvantaged youth Applicants must serve serve the the entire age or grade span span Schools that do not serve serve the the full span span should partner with a a a feeder school to serve the complete span AWARD INFORMATION
The State will award subgrants to serve the following age bands:
• Birth to to 5-years-old and and kindergarten to to grade 5 5 5 Applicants must serve children in in both birth through age 5 5 5 (e g g g g g at least PreK) and and kindergarten through grade 5 5 5 age age ranges An estimated 30 subgrants will be awarded with an an an an average grant grant size of $351 500 00 00 per year which is broken down to to $87 875 00 00 for for birth to to age ve and $263 625 00 00 for for grades K–5 • Grades 6 through 8 The state plans to award 25 subgrants with an an an an average grant grant amount of $120 514 00 per year • Grades 9 through 12 The state plans to award 25 subgrants with an an an an average grant grant amount of $160 686 00 per year GRANT RESOURCES
