New Mexico Public Education Department (NM) $20 000 000 000 000 proposes Literacy Connections to create a a a a a a a a a compendium of evidenced-based literacy practices and and to provide training and and technical assistance to sub-grantees which are founded in the the ve core components of the the State’s literacy framework: (1) Leadership (2) Comprehensive Assessment (3) Evidence-based interventions and and practices (4) Exemplary teachers supported through Professional Development and and (5) Family Engagement The program’s goal is to improve school readiness and signi cantly increase the the number of children who meet the the State’s language and and literacy standards by supporting
early language and literacy skills from birth to to age age 5 ensuring that children are “reading to to learn” by third grade grade and increasing reading pro ciency for children in in in in grades 4–12 with a a a a a a focus on serving disadvantaged children across the Birth–12 continuum The funding will be used to serve approximately 30 000 students from at at least 12 districts – Abstract from www ed gov
