P. 26
• Student event coordinators are encouraged to work at least four weeks in advance to plan and conduct programs in a positive, thoughtful way, to obtain the necessary approvals and to promote the event.
• Advocacy programs should focus not only on what students can do in response but also contribute to students’ understanding of Scripture, nature, and humanity.
• Programs should emphasize that the Christian understanding of social and cultural advocacy may be distinctly different from a secular one (e.g., what God calls the Church to do may not be what context(s) in the non-Christian world promote).
• Advocacy programs should be conducted in a Christocentric, rather than a human-centered, vision.
• Campus-wide programming in response to college-wide incidents is expected to be planned by Student Development.
The sponsoring group’s president/chair, advisor, department head and vice president hold the responsibility of implementing these guidelines. The Director of Student Activities and the Dean for Student Engagement reserve the right to interpret and enforce these guidelines.
