SGECURING THE FUTURE OF GEORGETOWN PREP
eorgetown Preparatory School formally announced the launch of For the Greater Glory: Georgetown Prep’s Legacy Campaign with a celebration of 100 Years at Garrett Park on November 9, 2019. The celebration started with a Mass in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes
and the Reconsecration of the Yard on the steps of the George Center.
The evening was a great celebration of the Georgetown Prep community and the decade on the
School’s “new campus” in Garrett Park, Maryland.
At the event, Rev. James R. Van Dyke, S.J., Georgetown Prep’s President, provided the community
with the goals and aspirations for the Capital Campaign. He noted, “Georgetown Prep’s reputation
for excellence is founded on two pillars: our Ignatian values and the academic experience the School offers. Those pillars have been constant since 1789. They are part of what makes Prep unique and special. However, forces at work in our world threaten both. Our world does not necessarily see the value in Jesuit secondary education; the spirituality and service programs, in concert with the work we do to help our young men understand more deeply the material we offer in the classroom and out, need the investment of time, talent, and treasure.”
At the launch of the Campaign, Prep had already secured $40 Million in gifts and pledges. As of December 1, 2020, the School has secured $55.2 Million in gifts and pledges. In late December, the School broke ground on the Campus Center, Residence Hall, and New Athletic Facilities project.
