In the late 1960s, the U.S. Air Force gave pilots a promise: Fly 100 combat missions over North Vietnam, and you can go home. They did not promise survival. This documentary follows five pilots to reveal their missions, their hopes and fears, and the traditions and superstitions that bonded them together during a tumultuous war. Coming off the back of the successful first series of ‘Australia in Colour’, series 2 will be a continued exploration of Australian history through largely unseen archive. Thematically structured, it will allow us more time to linger on individual stories and experience the drama and intrigue of the past, in colour.
