Very little is known about the elephants of the Knysna Forest. It is difficult to study an animal that you cannot find; some even doubt their existence. Hunted almost to extinction by the early twentieth century, the last remaining members of the massive herds instinctively knew that they had to adapt in order to survive. But adaptation takes time, and time is running out.

Owls – we’re captivated by their beauty and intrigued by their air of mystery. This stunning series uncovers their secret life as never seen before, using a special camera rig to follow families of owls in a wild corner of rural Essex, through winter, spring and summer. There’s joy and tragedy, as they battle starvation, mate, and raise their young. Finally, we follow the baby owls as they transform from cute bundles of fluff into fully-fledged adults, one clumsy leap at a time.

From a conflict emerges a powerful emotional story of survival. A new breed of poachers has recently gone to war on South Africa’s rhino population and against all odds, one rhino has survived their bullets. Her name is Phila. Phila’s story takes us deep into a world of organised crime and millionaire poachers. It’s a rollercoaster ride complete with surprising twists in a conflict that is not as simple as it seems on the surface.

When one part of the planet awakens from its wintry slumber, and the other slows down after a busy summer, nature gets ready for change! In South Africa, endless fields of flowers explode into dazzling colour. In Canada, grizzles hunt in rivers filled with spectacular migrating salmon. In Mexico, billions of butterflies emerge from their cocoons. And, every fall, huge flocks of starlings invade the city of Rome. Change is everywhere!
Deer are generally considered shy residents of the woods. However, Cayuga Heights, New York, where countless white-tailed deer roam the streets and gardens of the suburbs, presents us with a different picture. Besides the action going on in the neighbourhoods, thanks to special cameras, we even catch a rare glimpse of this mammal’s secret life back home in the woods.
