BULLSEYE PRAYERS
Without the word of truth, therefore, it is impossible to bring forth fruit to fulfil the mandate we have each received from the Lord. Without bearing fruit, nothing can abide. Then, we would have unfortunately come to this world in vain. Nothing in the world will represent a worthy contribution from us that can be remembered forever. This is not the plan of God for us.
Furthermore, even if we bring forth fruit by His word that we receive, and the fruit does not abide, we will end up in the same position of not making any indelible impact on the earth. We can appreciate that very important aspect of ensuring that our “fruit remains” therefore. This is in fact, the key to understanding why Jesus prayed the prayer that we are starting with here:
John 17:17 NKJV
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
Why Pray in this Manner?
Why was this prayer necessary and/or why did Jesus consider this an important prayer to pray for the disciples before leaving them to continue their journey on the earth? When we understand this prayer, it will help to set forth correctly our prayer priorities from this point forward.
