of the suffering to come from the experience made Him to consider passing on the cup. His deep spiritual understanding and love for the Father and for us, overrode the thought of suffering, including the joy that was set before him, and reinforced his choice to submit to the will of the Father (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Submitting to the will of the Father was all He knew to do and all He had done throughout His life. He was committed to doing God’s will and He knew deep down that He had no option.
In the situation, the only option to secure help to do God’s will was turning to Him in prayer in the manner that He did. And it proved to be the right thing to do because an angel was sent from heaven to strengthen Him according to Luke 22:43,

And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, [42] saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” [43] Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. [44] And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
