NEVERTHELESS, NOT AS I WILL
Romans 8:26-28 NKJV
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. [27] Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. [28] And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
When we pray in the Spirit all we are saying to God is that His will should be done in our lives. That would apply to whatever specific issues the Holy Spirit considers appropriate to pray about. The Spirit of God only knows how to pray according to the will of God. He cannot be led astray in the place of prayer and we cannot make Him to pray about what is contrary to the will of God.
I believe also that most times when we pray in our understanding about something and we switch to pray also in the Spirit, we may actually be saving ourselves from praying contrary to the will of God. In such times, we have no guarantee that the Spirit is praying about whatever we have been praying about in our understanding. The Spirit will only pray according to the will of God.
