The Man In Love
Ebenezer in Israel to Ashdod in the land of the Philistines, who defeated Israel in a fierce battle at Aphek:
And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.
1 Samuel 4:21-22
Glory departed from Israel because the Ark of God left. The Ark of God represents the presence of God. Also, the glory left because her husband was killed. When the head loses the presence of God, glory will disappear from the body. When the body loses its head as well, glory will equally disappear. Therefore, it is crucial for the head to be preserved at all times and for the presence of God to abide therein, if the glory of the body must be preserved. Wives must have this understanding that it is crucial that their husbands are preserved spiritually and physically, and the presence of God through His spirit is preserved by all means in them. Hopni and Phinehas had done abominable things in Israel during that time and Eli, their father, failed in his duty to call them to order (1 Samuel 2:12-3:18).
