The Man In Love
apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.
1 Peter 3:1-6 Peter gives us the first thing that wives should re-examine when they have issues with their husbands. He maintained the same commandment that was stated in Ephesians 5:22 that wives should be submissive to their husbands. He however, explicitly makes the point that through that submissive behavior, wives stand to win their husbands back. He drew attention to the fact that husbands respond to the genuine submissive gesture of their wives and that gesture goes beyond the outward adornments of the wives. The godly conduct of their wives, evidenced by the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, is identified to be very attractive to men. He pointed them to consider and follow the
example of Sarah who obeyed her husband and was loved by him. Wives seeking therefore, to help their husbands must first examine themselves sincerely and recommit themselves to
