Rebetiko is a kind of urban Greek folk music; the emblematic instrument is the bouzouki, a stringed instrument with a teardrop-shaped body and a thin, elongated neck. The most famous bouzouki player is Manolis Karantinis. What Jimi Hendrix is to the guitar, Manolis Karantinis is to the bouzouki.

De Hogeweyk (weyk being Dutch for a group of houses) is a more humane alternative to the traditional nursing home, the difference being that the inhabitants, elders with dementia, are given a simulacrum of a living, breathing village to frequent—with a grocery store, a restaurant, and a cinema. Nurses are disguised as neighbors and servants, the ultimate goal being that patients can continue to lead normal lives.
