Maryland Polo Club's
2022
USPA Intercollegiate National Champions
University of Virginia
On April 9th, 2022, five of Maryland Polo Club's youth members played in the Division 1 finals of the United States Polo Association's 100th Anniversary Men's and Women's Intercollegiate National Championship!
Parker Pearce and Brennan Wells entered the Men's finals playing for their undefeated University of Virginia Men's Polo team against University of North Texas. After a close 1st half, the Cavaliers finished up the 6th chukkar with a decisive win over UNT. Polo facts: Pearce and Wells have been arena teammates for eight years and belonged to MPC since they were 10 years old! Best Playing Pony went to Nemo ridden by Pearce.
In the Women's finals, Maddie Grant captained her Virginia Polo team to victory in a fast paced game against the University of Kentucky. Wildcats, Louisa Huber and Lila Bennett, gave a 100% effort using their arena and outdoor skills that they learned together since 5th grade! Polo facts: Bennett played one of her own ponies, Bull, in the finals! Bennett and Grant split chukkars on two of Parker Pearce's outdoor ponies, Samurai and Ultra!
Two other Maryland players made it to the semi-finals of the USPA Nationals, Will Green and Hannah Reynolds. Green is a senior on the UK Men's team and Reynolds is a senior on the Texas A & M Women's team.
Year after year, The Maryland Polo Club exemplifies the connection of outdoor polo transitioning it's young members into intercollegiate champions and a natural progression to becoming an experienced adult outdoor player.
