Ingredients’ manufacturers have risen to the challenge by focusing on clean label formulations and natural ingredients to support healthier productdevelopment-whilealsoinvestinginnew ways to formulate food and drink that is still tasty, healthy and nutritious.
On the retail shelves, trends such as healthy snacking, free-from and plant-based food and drink continue to grow as consumers seek convenient, healthy food choices to suit busy lifestyles. At the same time, the UK government’s childhood obesity strategy has announced new measures to cut calorie consumption across a number of categories to complement the existing sugar reduction programme.
Food Matters Live is delighted to once again bring together the food and drink innovators from across retail, foodservice and manufacturing to explore all these new trends - and showcase how industry is responding with cutting-edge innovation.
The unrivalled education programme offers
100 free-to-attend conference and seminar sessions, with visitors having a rare opportunity
to hear headline speakers - leading chef Heston Blumenthal, Sainsbury’s former chief executive Justin King, and neuroscientist Baroness
Susan Green eld - as they share their industry experience and invaluable insight as part of the Food Matters Live conference.
At the same time, two brand new seminar programmes will join the peer-to-peer learning programme, focusing on the ‘Future of food retail’ and ‘Food futures’, with a particular look
at the drivers for growth, new product trends, innovation, and insight into the modern shopper.

Curated across 10 categories and re ecting the themes at the heart of Food Matters Live, the calibre of entries was exceptionally high. Congratulations to all the nalists who have been nominated by the judges inrecognitionoftheirdistinctiveandinnovative approach. We look forward to revealing the winners on Wednesday, 22 November.
Another new initiative this year is Match – a unique service providing an opportunity for professionals across the food and drink industry to identify potential partners and pre-arrange meetings with them. Organised in partnership with Food is GREAT, it incorporates a Meet
the Buyer programme, connecting buyers
from retailers and foodservice providers with innovative companies. We are very pleased to welcome international buyers to the programme too.
And to put all this thinking into context, the Food Matters Live exhibition brings together 800 organisations - from global multinational companies, to young and emerging enterprises – to offer a diverse range of innovative ingredients, products, research and expertise, and an exploration of new trends.
With more international exhibitors taking part than ever before, we’re particularly delighted
to continue to build collaborative partnerships with Italy, South Africa, Peru, Portugal, Greece, Netherlands and Belgium.
