P. 3
On November 4, 1960, in Manhattan, New York, Angela Celeste Roberts made her grand entrance into the world. She was the only child born to Gwendolyn Allick Frorup and Lionel “Nook” Roberts, Sr. Her early childhood years was spent in New York with her mom and aunt, Valburg Krauser before claiming her home in St. Croix, Virgin Islands where she lived with her aunt, Vera Daniel.
Growing up, Angela was constantly around family, especially her cousins of the Daniel family* (or especially her cousins, the Daniels). She was a nurturer at heart and would always help take care of her younger siblings and cousins making sure they knew how to iron and put the crease in their pants. Angela loved to bake! Her brothers and cousins can talk about the many goodies she would make for them over the years. From donuts to cookies, and her infamous pound cake. But one thing was certain, if you know Angela, then you know if something did not come out to her liking, nobody would get a chance to taste it. She was a perfectionist in that way, always wanting to make sure everyone enjoyed whatever she made. Even if it had to be approved by her first.
In high school, Angela was known to have a quiet and observant demeanor, always hanging back and checking out the scene in front of her. After graduating from high school, she began working at the Election System of the Virgin Islands, where her career began as an Election Assistant. Angela was a hard worker and dedicated to being a great employee, eventually achieving Employee of the Year. While there, she gained lasting friendships and familial bonds with many of the staff over the years.
Angela loved herself some music, you name it she listened to it! She absolutely loved her record and CD players. If one of her favorite songs came on, she made sure to put it back on replay. Over and over the songs would play through out, especially if it was her cleaning day. Angela was an avid fan of baseball, mainly little league. She made sure to catch every one of her brothers’ Butch and Craig’s games as much as she could. At the games, you would always catch her loudly cheering them on. She loved the game so much, her son, Ehrin also went on to play in little league.
After 32 years of service in the government of the Virgin Islands, she ended her career with the Board of Elections in December 2010. Afterwards traveling abroad to the states to take care of her health and be among family. On the night of July 5, 2022, at 62 years old, Angela entered eternal rest to her new home. While she will be missed, her spirit will surely live on inside the hearts of family and friends.
