  CHAIRPERSON’S MESSAGE
IMMEDIATE PAST CHAIRPERSON’S MESSAGE
The year 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of BEAM
Society Limited. As the Immediate Past Chairperson of
BSL, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, particularly all past chairperson, especially Prof John NG, Board
of Directors, pro bono and staff who have given us solid and truthful support and actual participation in our work all over the years.
The last decade has been a significant growth of the Association. During my years of BSL, I am excited to witness the BEAM Plus Assessment Tool are keeping abreast of time, in response to the changing needs of the community and industry, to cover diverse building types from New Buildings, Existing Buildings, Interiors to Neighbourhood.
Our office has been expanding from 2 staff at the very beginning to over 50 staff today. We have nurtured over 6,000 green professionals, who have played an important role in the green building movement. The overall quality of Hong Kong’s built environment has great improvement over the years.
Looking forward, rest assured that BSL will continue to collaborate with the Government, strategic partner and other professional institutes to build a green liveable community together further. I am confident that under the leadership of the current Chairperson Ms Ivy LEE, Board and Management, BSL will continue to succeed and advance to its next level excellence in the years to come.
Mr SO Kai-ming Immediate Past Chairperson (2017-2020) BEAM Society Limited
Ms Ivy LEE Siu-wing Chairperson BEAM Society Limited
My heartfelt thanks go to the past chairpersons of
BSL, the Board of Directors and all Committee Members who
have made significant contributions to the growth of BSL and with
whom we celebrate our 10th Anniversary. BSL would not have grown to what it is today without the tremendous loyalty and support from every one of you.
With the goal of creating a green liveable built environment, BSL has for the
last ten years been devoted to the development and upgrading of BEAM Plus Assessment Tools, whilst upholding our core values of integrity, consistency and efficiency over the decade.
Talent is key to realising our aims and success. With this in mind, we attach
great importance to capacity building. Since our establishment in 2010, we have trained up over 6,000 BEAM practitioners and are continuing to forge ahead by nourishing green talents through education, not only for the industry, but for future generations.
We are delighted to have seen an increasing number of organisations committing to turning existing buildings into greener buildings, and hope that the Government, as well as the industry, would share the same view and show their support for BEAM Plus; as we believe a green liveable community is our shared goal and a primary focus of our joint efforts.
Certainly challenges lie ahead for the next decade, but so do opportunities. BSL
is ready to play an active role in addressing these challenges, including climate change and risks to sustainability. We will also facilitate the achievement of the Government’s targets as set out in their environment and sustainability policies and initiatives.
Looking to the future, BSL will continue to work closely with our strategic partners in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area in the pursuit of more green buildings
development. Let us build a greener community and low-carbon future together!
