The Kids Café will benefit greatly with a kitchen and dining area specifically built to prepare and serve hundreds of dinners each day. In addition to the new structure, our plans for the clubhouse include fully accessible and creative outdoor play spaces, and additional parking and signage to make the facility a hospitable gathering place for parents and visitors. • Computer labs • Arts, music and film studios • Teen center • Early Childhood Centers • Athletic and training space • Playgrounds Operating Reserve Establishing an Operating Reserve Fund to help sustain continuing operations and support on-time maintenance of the three sites is a crucial part of this Renovation of Paul R. McLaughlin Youth Center After 18 years of continuous use, The McLaughlin Center shows considerable wear and tear. This building is BGCD’s face on Dot Ave, and needs a makeover worthy of the vitality of the activities inside. The work will entail a complete renovation of the facility, to include modernizing the program spaces and offices, and upgrading the building’s mechanical and electrical systems to support up-to-date technology and energy conservation standards. The new facilities will be optimized for children with special needs. Program space will include: 20 campaign. A dedicated reserve allows the club to continue its long tradition of innovating and adapting programs to meet the evolving needs not only of Dorchester’s children and youth, but also of parents and seniors and neighbors. Beyond buildings and fields The vision for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester is far more than new buildings and fields. To become a resilient, connected community, Dorchester needs welcoming, safe places for children and families to get to know and support their neighbors. BGCD is creating a vibrant hub of education, recreation, health and community that knits together the diverse populations and cultures represented in our city. The club values of inclusion, connection, respect, achievement and success, and, of course, fun leave a lasting mark on every child who walks through the door and makes BGCD a second home.
