FEEDBACK ON ACADEMIC WRITING
Feedback on academic writings is an optimized process which offers assistance
during a revision process. Writers always want someone who gives them feedback in order
to make them notice their own mistakes. However, people who give feedback promote
critical thinking and are an essential tool that can encourage students to be motivated, to
make them conscious about their mistakes, and increase the desire to continue writing.
Feedback is important while working on something. Giving feedback is extremely
useful as a tool to aid people to improve their writing. According to Apex Leadership Ltd.
(2006), there are two main purposes why feedback is given; to motivate and to correct. As
mentioned, feedback is mainly used to increase confidence and encourage people to
maintain their performance level.
Moreover, feedback makes writers conscious about their mistakes. Mistakes are an
important part while learning, if there’s not any mistake then writers are not being given
that special difficulty which make them learn. Writers have to choose challenging material
in order to uplift their knowledge. Considering Arntsen, T. (2010), when someone is not
performing correctly, feedback can help improving their performance.
What is more, feedback increases the desire to continue writing. Feedback makes
writers who make errors self-conscious when correcting their mistakes. Good quality
feedback can achieve a number of excellent things. Good quality feedback improves
performance, motivates, boosts confidence, provides coaching support, etc….
In conclusion, feedback on academic writing is a tool that makes students realize
about their own mistakes and makes them correct their writings. Feedback promotes critical
thinking to motivate, and increase the desire to continue writing.
