Amsterdam Fashion Week Platform
The Amsterdam Fashion Week has developed a revolutionary platform that combines the actual and virtual stages for brands and performers in a unique sustainable way.
The platform is a tool to connect, interact, create and co-create, learn and share, participate and view. It consists of a web based platform, an app and a fully integrated event calendar that directs to real live events and virtual events alike.
Amsterdam Fashion Week is no longer the exclusive domain of in-crowd and brands, nor is it necessary for all participants to travel physically to the event. The platform is thus capable of unlimitedly increasing the participants and viewers of the Amsterdam Fashion Week without the emissions normally associated with travel.
Direct Interaction
One of the key learnings of the Covid-19 crisis in 2020 was the high appreciation of direct communication with brands and designers by professionals and consumers alike. Amsterdam Fashion Week has ensured a large degree of interaction and communication options on their platform. There are panel discussions between fashion professionals on interesting topics that are streamed on Zoom. There are Q&A sessions with fashion professionals where consumers can directly interact and designers will make time to go online after a show to reflect and answer some of the questions that are being asked online. Podcast and interviews are available as well and the platform continuously monitors developing communication technologies to further enhance this functionality.
Physical shows
Amsterdam Fashion Week still hosts physical shows. The shows are high quality, intimate events that are attended by fashion professionals, key influencers, selected consumer representatives and family and friends of the designer. Like concert shows or sport events, the shows will not be streamed live to maintain exclusivity and quality of the performance.
Even though the shows are now smaller, intimate, more exclusive physical events the lessons from 2020 have not been forgotten. As Launchmetrics have learned us, the fashion week shows get massive exposure because the voices, (the different professionals, influencers and celebs present at the show), tell the story of the show in their own way. The physical shows of the Amsterdam Fashion Week therefore work with carefully designed tiers of access, targeted in order to offer each ‘voice’ its own unique content, that it can tailor for its needs.
Still, consumers and fashion professionals that were not present at the show can fully enjoy the new collection. All designers are asked to produce a digital lookbook for the main interactive attraction of the Amsterdam Fashion Week Platform.
