CARDINAL LLUIS MARTINEz SISTACH
archbishop emeritus of Barcelona
I utterly condemn the bomb- ing of Barcelona with deaths and injuries, fills us with pain and solidarity with the victims and family.
A terrorist attack in Barcelona claimed the lives of 14 people, including a seven-year-old Catholic student from Parramatta diocese. People around the world have paid tribute to the victims.

No-name letters
THE Catholic Leader reminds writers to Have Your Say that letters should carry a name, address and contact telephone number.
We receive many letters from anonymous writers requesting publication. Without your name and contact details this is not possible.
We will not usually publish a letter that has already appeared in another newspaper, neither will we normally publish anything which is more than 400 words.
We routinely edit contributions for defa- mation, grammar, prolixity, coherence and style.

It’s an incidental argument
tional and Novus Ordo calendars is the celebra- tion of the Most Holy Name Of Mary.
We will be voting to keep Australia Christian and opposing all atheistic secular policies.
The secular argument of same-sex unions should be made legal is incidental.
Defence of the sacrament of marriage is our commitment to the Four Last Things when we vote no.
Their memory is held sacred
Countless numbers of those who went to war went with their God in their hearts and prayers on their lips.
They were wounded and they gave their lives. Families still suffer because of that.
The families of those ghting in the contem-
porary age, and those actually out there ghting, I feel, would not think they are ghting for American corporations, rather for safety and freedom.
To make statements in the name of Jesus just sometimes may be off the mark.
Please do not think you honour God by destroying memorials erected to the honour and memory of those who went to war. They fought believing they were doing the right thing.
They believed in peace and paid the ultimate price for it.
Their memory is sacred, please respect that.
Anything less is not Christian and certainly not Catholic.

He eventually got home to my mother and nine months later I was born, so I was always called a Dunkirk baby.
I cried quite a lot during the movie because my father did not talk about it much, but I still remember him well.
Naturally I was born in England but came to Australia nearly 50 years later.
Apology
THERE were errors in Pauline Lavey’s letter in last week’s Have Your Say.
The Catholic Leader apologises to Mrs Lavey for the errors that occurred while transcribing her original letter.

MARRIAGE is a sacrament of the Church established by Jesus Christ himself.
All Catholics who have become too secular in their thinking need to remem- ber this when our postal vote is received on or after
Hitler?
Could his relentless march and his slaughter of
innocent people have been stopped by peaceful talk?
I think not.
The majority of those who went to war were probably Christian.
They went to ght for humanity and freedom.
It is easy to hide under a cloak of Christianity and allow others to do the dif cult thing.
THANK you for your story in recent edition of The Catholic Leader about the Dunkirk movie.
