Getting paid – read the small print
It is certainly not uncommon for businesses to face payment problems and get into a dispute with a customer over contracts. It is not only frustrating from a cash flow point of view but also ties up time and resource and in some cases can result in significant legal costs.
IN MANY cases the customer may simply be stalling to delay payment or they may have a genuine grievance.
SNIPEF is holding two workshops for members on 29 September at Falkirk Football Stadium to focus on various commercial and contractual issues including:
• amendments to standard contracts, what
to look out for
• payment mechanisms, how they operate,
due dates and the final payment dates
• recommendationsinrelationtoyour
applications for payment, schedule of dates
• what to do if you do not get paid on time
nor the amount you think you are due
• collecting retentions
• termination clauses to look out for
• how to deal with variations
• problems associated with Contractor
Design Portion contracts
• getting your final accounts agreed
• how the adjudication process operates and
how to maximise your chances of success • what are Project Bank Accounts
• problem case studies
• interactive sessions -raise issues that you
have experienced recently

Scottish Landlord’s Day, 7 November 2017
ONCE AGAIN SNIPEF will be flying the flag for licensed plumbing businesses at the leading landlord’s event in Scotland. This annual conference is run by the Scottish Association of Landlords and attracts a wide range of attendees from private owners with a small portfolio of
properties to major letting agencies and housing associations. We are exhibiting alongside Scottish Water and will be reminding attendees of the need for compliance and the benefits of using suitably qualified plumbing businesses to maintain their properties. •
