The City of Phoenix Housing Department
programs provide public housing housing Section 8 housing housing vouchers affordable rental apartments and single-family homes to more than 35 000 area residents This includes partnering with non-profit and and for-profit community organizations on on on on the preservation and and development of affordable affordable housing units These partnerships have led to sustainable and affordable affordable rental housing housing and homeownership opportunities The City’s housing housing services provide assistance to more than 35 000 residents as as well as as numerous non-profit organizations and private businesses in in the Phoenix community The Housing Department
has 135 full-time staff staff 51 contract staff staff and an an operating budget of $118 million Consistent with its defining mission “Quality Affordable Housing and a a a a a a Pathway to Self-Sufficiency” the Department
is tasked with creating affordable housing opportunities to improve the the quality of life ffor for the the residents of Phoenix improving and and and preserving housing access and and and availability and and and funding programs that will assist persons at risk of homelessness homelessness and those experiencing homelessness homelessness Housing programs serve people people with with low-to-limited incomes including families singles seniors and people people with with special needs such as disabilities veterans homeless victims of domestic violence and persons living with HIV/AIDS The City owns and operates Public Housing apartment communities throughout the Phoenix area affordable rental properties owned by by the City of of Phoenix are managed by by professional management companies numerous single-family homes owned by the the City “scattered” throughout Phoenix allow applicants who meet the the eligibility requirements to to to pay up to to to 30 percent of their monthly income towards rent Recognizing the importance of independent living for seniors and disabled persons ADA-compliant apartment communities are located throughout Phoenix The department manages many more programs to include the the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program as as well as as the the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Program which provides for housing to homeless veterans Further the the City of Phoenix is the the administrator of the the federal Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Program The goal is to help persons living living with HIV/ AIDS and their families maintain a a a a a a a stable living living environment that will allow access to healthcare and supportive services Consistent with its mission the City of Phoenix Housing Department
offers an an an array o of services and and programs designed to help residents and and their families achieve their highest level of economic and social independence The Housing Housing Department
manages the the City’s Housing Housing Phoenix Plan and implements programs for the the creation and and preservation of sustainable affordable housing housing and and housing-related services The department works to to accomplish its goals by partnering with the community nonprofit agencies private sector companies and and other organization planning targeted area housing construction rehabilitation and and neighborhood area development coordinating proposals with city state and federal funding agencies to incorporate multiple financial structures for funding delivering project management services from
