The Building Official is a a a a a a single incumbent professional level “at-will” classification Reporting to to the the Director of Community Development the the Building Official directs manages supervises and and coordinates the the activities and and operations of the the Building Services Division including inspection of building construction activities investigation of of code violations and issuance of of building permits This position coordinates assigned activities with other divisions departments and outside agencies and and provides highly responsible and and complex administrative support to the Director of Community Development As a a a a a a Building Official with the City of Rialto this position monitors and evaluates
the efficiency and and and effectiveness of service delivery methods and and and procedures and and and provides recommendations within division policy with with regard to appropriate service and staffing levels Additionally this position supervises the examination of plans and and and specifications for completeness and and and compliance with applicable codes and and and regulations reviews structural calculations for accuracy and maintains efficient
plan examination process The incumbent in in in this position will conduct field investigations and and inspections as needed and and will confer with owners architects and and engineers on on on design and and construction plans to ensure all structures inspected adhere to housing zoning mechanical electrical plumbing energy and mobile home codes codes and and and standards Preparation of new codes codes and and and ordinances for adoption by the City Council are also essential functions for this position
