The Simi Valley City City Attorney is is appointed by the the City City Council to to to serve as the the chief legal advisor to to to the the Council city city city boards and and commissions and and to internal city city city departments In this capacity the the City Attorney will research and and prepare legal opinions for the various internal clients strategize and and try both criminal cases and and civil litigation prepare and and review new ordinances or or revisions to existing ordinances and and manage and and mentor the the staff of the the City Attorney’s Office The Office of the the City City Attorney provides legal advice to to the the City City Council and all municipal departments the the the Ventura County Waterworks District #8 the the the Successor Agency to the the the Simi Valley Community Development Development Agency the the Simi Simi Valley Industrial Development Development Authority and the the Simi Simi Valley Public Financing Authority The City City Attorney’s Office represents the City City in in in regulatory and court proceedings receives and and investigates investigates claims filed against the City investigates investigates and and prosecutes criminal charges for for citations issued by the Police Department and Request for for Formal Complaints presented by Code Code Enforcement for for violations of the Municipal Code Code The City City City Attorney’s Office also participates in in City City City Council Planning Commission and all City City City committee committee commissions Boards and and Ad Hoc committees as necessary handles litigation in house coordinates litigation handled by outside counsel and and works with staff of all departments on on day-to- day matters involving the the operations of the the City The budget for the the the Office of the the the City City Attorney is is currently $1 4 million and it it it is is staffed by the the the City City Attorney Attorney three Assistant City Attorneys a a a a a a a a legal legal secretary and a a a a a a a a legal legal technician To learn more go to: www simivalley org
