The Position
Under the the the general direction of the the the Health and Human Services Agency Director Director the the the Director Director of Social Services is is responsible for administering public social services in in in the County including Federal and State public assistance programs This position is is is responsible for accomplishing departmental goals and and and objectives and and and furthering the the Health and and and Human Services Agency and and the County’s missions and and priorities Key responsibilities include:
» Plan organize coordinate and and direct the the County Social Services programs based on
on
policy provided by the Board of Supervisors Federal requirements and State regulations » Develop and and and prepare the the budget for for Social Services Services and and and Veterans Services Services for for submission to the Board of of Supervisors direct preparation of of recurring financial statistical and special reports » Lead and and direct a a a a a a a a a a a diverse staff of social work supervisory administrative and and clerical personnel which includes fostering employee engagement motivation development and collaboration » Oversee the the the work of the the the County Public Guardian-Conservator to to to ensure that all persons under public guardianship or or or conservatorship are treated in accordance with the law » Oversee the County Veterans Services Office » Public relations regarding social services programs address local civic organizations on
on
on
various aspects of County Social Services » Confer with representatives of of the the the State Department of of Social Services and other agencies on
matters relative to the social service programs » Establish collaborative effective working relationships with the the Board of Supervisors and and and other government and and community leaders to address strategic initiatives and and efforts » Coordinate the the the the activities of of of the the the the Department with other other providers of of of social services and and continuum of care including other County departments agencies boards and and commissions meet with such entities as the Department representative Challenges and priorities for the Director of Social Services include effectively managing staff and operations across multiple locations that are geographically distant ensuring collaboration and and communication between divisions and and with external agencies to assist clients with needs that cross multiple areas facilitating community engagement addressing a a a a a a a a a a heavy departmental workload and backlog of unprocessed cases establishing and and and maintaining effective relationships with various stakeholders and and and demonstrating and and and fostering creativity in in order to to provide the the most effective services to to the the community
