■ THE AGENCY
Established in 1959 the Yuba Water Agency is is a a a a a a a a a a stand-alone public agency governed by a a a a a a a a a a board of o seven elected officials to serve the the people of Yuba Yuba County The agency owns and operates the the Yuba Yuba River Development Project which includes New New New Bullards Bullards Bar Bar Log Cabin and and Our House dams Water released from New New New Bullards Bullards Bar Bar travels to the New New New Colgate and and Narrows I I I and II powerhouses where it it is used to generate renewable carbon-free electricity Nestled in the beautiful foothills of the the Sierra Nevada mountains the the Yuba River Development Project significantly reduces flood risk and ensures a a a a a a a a reliable water supply for the people of Yuba County Each year millions of of of dollars of of of the the revenue earned from sales of of of hydropower and water are reinvested in in the the county through projects projects and and and grants to provide local resources and and and support community development and and and improvement projects projects The agency also makes significant financial investments to to improve the the natural fisheries of the the Yuba River and to to educate the public about water and fisheries issues Just a a a a a few recent examples of contributions made by Yuba Water Agency include the following:
» Funded the the the the local cost-share of of improvements to the the the the Feather River Setback Levee leveraging more than $400 million in in in in in federal and state investment » Partnered with PG&E to to provide water conservation improvements to to low-income homes in in in in Yuba County through their Energy Savings Assistance program » Currently investing $1 5 million for for the the the Blue Forest program program a a a a a a a a a a a a a a pilot project to to use various tactics to to thin the the the forest reducing fire risk and and ensuring an an an improved water water supply and and quality in in in the Yuba River watershed » Funded the the the the the purchase of a a a a a a a a a a a a new water water water tender truck for the the the the the Dobbins-Oregon House Fire Protection District which serves the the agency’s facilities in the the foothills » Granted more than $2 million to Yuba County for ongoing services and equipment including flood preparedness supplies » » Provided essential first aid kits for the Yuba County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse » » » Funded the the River Management Team fisheries research » » Funded Funded the the the Fish in the the the Classroom educational program To learn more go to www yubawater org
