The Position
Appointed by the the Development Services Director the the Building Official plans organizes directs and coordinates the the the the work of the the the the Building Safety Division and assists the the the the Director with the the the the Department’s day-to-day operations and and and management of of programs services and and and staff This position directly supervises the Chief of of Inspection and and and the Chief Plans Examiner Responsibilities for this position include:
» Providing leadership for for the Building Safety Division Division to accomplish Division Division and Department objectives
» Exercising the judgement decisiveness and and and creativity required to administer and and and and enforce building regulations direct and and and motivate staff and and and provide responsive service to the public
» Answering technical and complex questions involving code interpretations
» Making field inspections of the more complex or or technically demanding sites
» Supervising the work of of professional technical technical and and clerical staff » Preparing and and recommending changes in in in codes regulation and and procedures
» Assisting the Director in in in in administering departmental budgets activities policies and projects
» Maintaining effective working relationships with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a variety of o local regional and and and state officials and and and community groups and and organizations The Building Safety Division issues over 3 3 000 000 building permits and completes an an average of 30 000 000 inspections per year City Government
