■ Cal OES Cal OES provides leadership assistance training and and and support to state and and and local agencies and and and coordinates with federal federal agencies in in in planning and and preparing for the most effective use of federal federal state local and and private sector resources in emergencies Cal Cal OES implements the the state’s homeland security security strategy by overseeing the the California Cybersecurity Integration Center Center and the the State State Threat Threat Assessment Center Center (STAC) which includes management of the the State State Threat Threat Assessment Center The STAC assists in in in the detection prevention and and investigation of and and response to criminal and and and terrorist activity and and and also facilitates information and and and intelligence sharing between local state federal tribal agencies and private sector partners With over 38 million residents (12% of of the the the population) the the the State of of California is the the the most populous state in the the the nation and and has the the the third largest land area among the the the states (163 695 square miles) California is culturally ethnically economically ecologically and and politically diverse and and maintains the the eighth largest economy in in in the the world with 13% of the U S gross domestic product California also faces numerous risks and threats to our people property economy environment and is prone to earthquakes floods significant wildfires prolonged drought impacts public health emergencies cybersecurity attacks agricultural and animal disasters as as well threats to homeland security Cal OES takes a a a a a a a a a a a a proactive approach to addressing these risks threats and and vulnerabilities that form the basis of our mission and has been tested through real events as as as as well as as as as comprehensive exercises that help us maintain our state of readiness and and plan for and and mitigate impacts Today Cal OES performs its mission by administering numerous programs that support our stakeholders protect our communities and help create a a a a a resilient California
