■ The Position
This position works under the the Director of the the Development Services to to plan organize coordinate and direct the the engineering engineering programs coordinates the the engineering engineering aspects of public works maintenance and operations activities provides technical staff assistance to to the the City Manager and and other department directors and and performs other job-related work as required This position is is is designated as un-represented for Labor Relations purposes and is is is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) This is is is a a a a a a a a mid-management classification responsible for the the management management of the the Engineering Division and programs/functions involving the the management coordination and delivery of the the City-wide engineering and and surveying service In addition the job incumbent has direct direct responsibilities for overseeing and and directing the the work of subordinate staff This position position differs from other positions involved in in in in in in engineering functions in in in in in in the broader responsibility for developing and and implementing programs systems and and procedures that affect the overall City operations and and and multiple departments and and and units Duties and and and responsibilities are performed in accordance with law ordinance and City policy ■ Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate must be able to work with minimal direct supervision exercise independent judgment and and demonstrate initiative in in in complex responsible and and sensitive areas The City Engineer supervises professional and and para- professional engineering and surveying staff staff as as well as as administrative support staff staff directly or or or through subordinate supervisory staff and and as such must be a a a a a a a a a strong and and approachable leader Additionally being able to:
