    The Client
Our client is a partner in a joint venture on a major multi billion pound transport infrastructure project.
Client Objectives
Our relationship with our client spanned a number of years and their objectives changed over the course of the project. Initially they were looking for an engineering specialist to assist them with planning resource, recruitment and then retention of specialist railway engineers to facilitate the project.
As the project came to culmination they were looking for help in assisting them on their planned redundancy programme.
Our Strategy
The first step in the recruitment process was meeting with our client’s team to understand the project in detail and their requirements. Once we were sure we had full understanding, we devised an appropriate recruitment strategy to meet the requirements. As part of this process, we advised our client on market rates and potential challenges.
As the project required a number of specialist engineers over a couple of years we set about building a talent pool of suitably qualified and screened people so that we could react quickly should additional resource be required. To do this we used a combination of contingent and networking methods.
For the planned redundancies we organised an open day as well as workshops and advice clinics to advise and help those leaving the project to find new positions that were suitable for their skillsets and experience.
Challenges faced
The challenge for this assignment was two fold; there was a requirement for a high volume of people with niche engineering skillsets. The project was also based in one location.
Results
We placed 36 highly specialist engineers for the project and this has helped facilitate the success of this important transport project.
