チェンマイでのリサーチトリップ
プロジェクト開始後2週間、多摩美術大学とアートセンターの学生たちは指導教 員と共に、日本の純林苑(静岡県)を皮切りに、伝統工芸が盛んなタイのチェ ンマイ地方を訪れ、多くの工房や職人の元を訪問した。職人たちの仕事を間近 で見学し、解説を受けながら、実際にウッドカービングや帽子作りなどの体験 を通して、ものづくりの精神に触れることができた。この2週間のフィールド トリップは、プロジェクトのテーマを深く理解する機会となった。また、この 旅を通して、両大学の学生間の距離が縮まり、その後の創作活動においても、 大きな影響を与えた。

Research Trip to Thailand
For 14 days after the project kick-off, TAU and ACCD students and their instructors visited several craft studiosin Chiang Mai, Phayao, Lamphun Lampang, Through listening to the words of craft people and directly experiencing crafts such as wood carving and traditional dyeing textiles, the students were exposed to the art of making things. Through the trip, students deeply understood the project’s theme, and also this fascinating natural experience undoubtedly has a great impact on the students’ subsequent thinking about art and design.
