Vivette Milson-Whyte, who holds a PhD in Rhetoric, Composition and the Teaching of English from the University of Arizona, is Lecturer in the Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy on the Mona Campus of The University of the West Indies, where she serves as one of the coordinators of academic writing courses. Her presentations and publications reflect her experiences in teaching at the secondary and postsecondary levels in Jamaica, France, Martinique and the United States, as well as her interests in the production, circulation and reception of discourse; in language ideology and writing; in linguistic inventiveness in literacy development; and in cross-national studies of the teaching and assessment of writing.
