L AST month I told you just how loyal some dogs can be. We can be so useful, too and I was thrilled to see Fred
featured on TV the other week.
Fred is a ten-year- old Labrador who has suddenly become famous after ‘adopting’ a family of abandoned ducklings.
The unlikely foster parent took nine ducklings under his paw. They were found waddling around the grounds of Mountfitchet Castle in Stansted, Essex, with their mother nowhere to be seen.
Staff took them inside as they were too young to fend for themselves. Since then,
Fred has been keeping a close eye on them, giving them rides on his back and allowing his young feathered friends to share his bed.
There was a big wedding the other week, featuring my namesake. Lots of humans decided to dress up in red, white and blue colours and some of
them
trimmed up their pets, too!
Here’s Dronfield dog Charlie - a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle cross - who enjoyed the big day with his owner, Susan Copland.
See you next month, Harry
