5. What releases and tours have you done?
Melo: We released our first EP in December. I went on a solo tour with my friend Yatta (who is an amazing performer/ wizard/cowboy) to the South, and that was my first time ever going on tour or visiting most of those places. We also went on a little North East tour when Em was still part of MALLRAT. We’re going to Chicago and back at the end of the month to play Fed Up Fest!
6. What is next for MALLRAT?
Melo: I want to play a million shows with artists that I love. I want to make a music video next to a waterfall. I want this band to feel sustainable for my bandmates and for me. I want to get to the point where I have a tour rider and then I’m going to request pork buns.
7. Recommended reading, tv, media, music, websites? Anything you would like to add?
Melo: One of my friends (who has the same birthday as me) runs Educated Little Monsters, a really amazing arts pro- gram for Brooklyn native youth of color and you should definitely check it out. Listen to YATTA, Boiled Wool, Lucky Cat, Aye Nako, Library, Sammus, Alyssa Kai, Crosslegged, and Didi. I joined Twitter recently because I have really funny, talented friends and that’s probably the main reading I do so I would recommend joining Twitter.
